 Tin can stilts

Deutsch

What you need:

two big, empty tin cans,

masking tape, clothes line,

optionally some felt,

paper,

scissors,

glue,

pricker (or a hammer and a nail)

Watch out for corners and sharp edges at the opening of the tin can. Bend protruding points towards the rim of the tin can. You can use a hammer for that.

You can also stick masking tape to dangerous parts

so that your children won’t get hurt when they play with the stilts later.

If you want to have coloured tin can stilts,

you can apply paper, foil, or fabric to the tin cans.

Make two holes with a pricker (or a hammer and a nail) into each tin can.

Prick the holes into the sides of the tin cans near to the bottom and opposite to each other.

Cut off two similar pieces of clothes line.

Put the two ends of the first line through the holes into one tin can and knot them. The knot must be really secure so that the line won’t come lose later.

Fasten the second line to the other tin can in the same way.

If you want to use the stilts indoors, it is advisable to stick felt to the lower rim of the tin cans so that they won’t leave any scratches on parquet or tiled floors.
