What you need:
one canvas (8" x 8"),
pair of compasses,
24 empty matchboxes,
paint,
brush,
glue,
napkin with motif,
glue for napkin technique,
pricker,
sample bag clips,
pens (or small number
stickers)
Paint the canvas in a colour of your choice.
Paint the matchboxes too. Let the paint dry.
Using the compasses,
draw a circle around the middle of the canvas (about 2.5"
diameter).
Cut a Christmas motif out of a napkin.
The motif should fit into the
circle.
Apply some glue for napkin technique onto the canvas. Separate the layers of the napkin. You only need the uppermost layer on which the motif is printed. Place the motif on the canvas and apply some more glue. It works best if you spread the glue from the middle to the edges so that the motif does not get creased. Let the glue
dry.
Place the matchboxes onto the circle like the beams of a star.
Glue the matchboxes to the canvas one by
one.
Prick a hole into the drawers of the matchboxes.
There needs to be a hole in the middle of each front of the
drawers.
Put a sample bag clip through each hole.
Insert the drawers into the boxes.
Write the numbers from one to twenty-four
onto the boxes or stick number stickers onto them.
Fill the calendar with sayings, small vouchers,
tickets, money, sweets or
chocolates.
