What you need:

24m / 26.2yd of jute or sisal cord (3.5mm / 0.14in),

16 small wooden beads (have yet to fit onto the cord),

16 larger wooden beads

Cut the cord into eight pieces that are 4m /13.1ft / 4.4yd long each.

Put the ends of the eight cords together and tie them together with a simple knot about 40cm / 1.3ft from the ends of the cords away.

Divide the cords into two groups of four cords each.

Start at one side of the cords (in the picture red).
Tie one right basic knot and one left basic knot.
Tie one right and one left basic knot at the other side too.

Then take the four cords in the middle and tie a right and a left basic knot as well. Let the two remaining cords on the sides just hang down.

Then tie two knots to each side again, then two knots in the middle.

Repeat this pattern on 40cm / 1.3ft. Before you tie the next knot in the middle, string a small bead onto the two middle cords. Then tie the knot in the middle as usual. Repeat this pattern eight times.

Keep knotting until the belt is about 1m / 1.094yd / 3.3ft long. The last two knots should be one left and one right knot as in the beginning. Then tie the ends of all cords together just behind the knotted part.

The ends of the cords should be about 40cm /1.3ft long. Cut off the rest. Tie a larger wooden bead to all ends and cut off the ends that jut out.

Your belt is finished. Place it around the hips and tie the ends loosely together at the front.
