Salt dough mobile

     Deutsch

Ingredients for the salt dough:

2/5 flour,

2/5 salt,

1/5 water

You also need:

baking parchment,

poster paint,

brush,

clear varnish,

biscuit cutters (heart shape),

string,

two wooden or metal sticks (about 8 to 12 in long)

Mix the dough. Use a cup for measuring the ingredients.

Pour two cups of flour and two cups of salt into a bowl. Add a cup of water.

Knead the mixture evenly with your hands.

Roll out the dough on a table or a tray. Cut hearts out of the dough.

Put the hearts onto a piece of baking parchment.

Dry the hearts in the oven at 150°. The thicker the hearts are,

the longer they need to be in the oven.

Check the hearts now and then so that they do not start to burn. When the hearts have a brown colour, remove them from the oven. Let the hearts cool down.
Now you can paint the hearts. Let the paint dry afterwards. Finally, apply a layer of clear varnish. Now the hearts cannot absorb moisture and get mushy. Don't panic if the clear varnish is white when you apply it. It will become clear when dry. When the clear varnish is dry, your hearts are finished.

Make a small hole into the top of each heart with a sharp needle or a small drill. Pull a piece of string through each hole for hanging. You can also glue the pieces of string to the hearts.
Tie the two metal or wooden sticks together in the middle crosswise. Tie the hearts to the cross. Distribute the hearts evenly to keep the mobile balanced.
