Bookmarks

What you need: 

scissors, 

glue, 

paper or card 

(e.g. corrugated paper or card stock), 

strings of wool, 

hole punch, 

pens, 

adhesive tape, 

optionally a small photo 

Cut a rectangle out of corrugated paper (or any other kind of card). 

Cut off a string of wool as well.

Make a hole into the card stock with the hole punch at one of the short sides near to the edge. Pull the string through this hole and knot it. You might use several strings, too.
That's all you need to do for a simple bookmark.

How to create a bookmark with a photo:

Again you cut a rectangle out of corrugated paper. 

Then cut a rectangle in the same size out of normal card stock 

The card stock should be in the same colour as the corrugated paper.

Now you need a photo, e.g. a passport photo. Cut it into the size of the bookmark. Leave a small margin around the motif, this will be covered by the frame later.
Take the piece of corrugated paper you have cut out. Draw a quadrangle onto the card stock that is a little smaller than the photo.
Make a small hole into the quadrangle with the scissors and carefully cut the quadrangle out.
Now you have a frame for the photo.

Insert the photo into the frame and stick it to the card stock with adhesive tape.
Glue the piece of card stock onto the back. 

Now the back of the bookmark looks nice as well.

Make a hole into the card stock with the hole punch at the short side opposite the photo near to the edge. Cut off strings of wool, pull them through the hole, and knot them. That's all.
